How to Dye Easter Eggs
How to Dye Eggs for aster
How do you dye Easter eggs? When you think of Easter, it’s likely that images of brightly coloured eggs pop into your mind. Pastel eggs, bright eggs, eggs in various shades of red…eggs have become synonymous with the Easter holiday. Here’s how you can create your own colourful eggs by dying normal chicken’s eggs.
If you are looking to host an Easter Egg hunt, these dyed eggs offer a fun and affordable way to create a fun event for the whole family. Prepare the eggs in advance and hid them throughout your home or in a garden for young children to find.
How to Make Easter Eggss:
The process of dying eggs is relatively simple; the real secret to the egg dying process is patience, as you’ll need to wait for your eggs to cool before dying, and you have to keep the eggs in the dye for at least 5 minutes. Above all, make sure you prepare the boiled eggs in advance, as you can easily burn your fingers handling boiled eggs that are still hot from the scalding water.
What you’ll need:
• Hard boiled eggs
• Paper towel or newspaper
• Tongs, slotted spoon or an egg dipper
• ½ cup of boiling water
• 1 teaspoon white vinegar
• Liquid food colouring, in the colour of your choice.
• Bowl large enough to submerge an egg
Method:
1. Start off with your cooled hard-boiled eggs.
2. Protect your work surface by covering it with a paper or a sheet of newspaper.
3. Fill the container with enough water to cover the egg, one tablespoon of white vinegar and approximately 20 drops of food colouring. You can add more or less food colouring based on your preferences. Ultimately, the more food colouring you add, the darker the colour will be.
4. Place an egg on your slotted spoon or pick the egg up with a pair of tongs, and dunk in the dye water, turning so that both sides receive an even amount of colour. Keep the egg in the liquid for up to 5 minutes, leaving in longer for a deeper hue.
5. Remove the egg from the water and set aside to dry. Repeat with your additional eggs, creating new batches of dyed water for different colours.
